I have a 88.5 Sami. I installed a Sky traction bar awhile back and OME springs. Now I get a serious vibration when starting off up to around 10 or 15 mph. Also getting a clunking noise from my fwd shaft aft u-joints hitting the frame bracket just below it. If I hold the transfer shifter fwd, it won't knock. Thinking about moving the 1" spacer from the back to front part of the shaft to see if that takes care fo it. For the vibration problem, I saw a post about someone installing a steering stabilizer or something. Can't find the post again. Could that take care of the vibe problem? The springs, bushings, and t/b really firmed it up solid though.

I'm sorry I don't understand. What do you mean rotate the pinion up? I have removed and installed the driveshaft a few times when towing, but never paid attention to this pinion. I'm all ears and willing to try whatever advice I can get.

when the SPOA was installed, were the spring perch's welded 180* from stock or was the diff. rotated (pinion up) for better drive shaft angle. What that does is change the caster & camber on the front end.

I'm pretty positive they were welded 180 degrees from stock. I see no angle or tilt to to it.

Show me pictures. Or bring it by the shop. Haha!

Where are you located?

Is the vibration death wobble or shimmy in the front end or drive shaft shudder? Might be the rear shaft...

It is the rear shaft. On the way home yesterday the 4 bolts at the transfer case end of the shaft sheared off. Luckily it happened before I got on the freeway. I never noticed a vibration before I installed the traction bar and springs. This needs to be fixed immediately. Any suggestions?

Wow thats crazy, good to hear you didn't wad it up or get hurt.  Do they make a slip yoke eliminator for Sami's?  I had a slight vibe when i lifted my TJ and put one on to correct the problem.

If you lifted it, your driveshaft angle is probably messed up one way or the other.

If I oculd look at it, I could make some recommendations.

Call this guy. Knows his stuff, and good service.

Also might hit up sammi specialty guys. If you call them and they know what they're doing they should tell you what mods you need to make for you lift, etc.

The OME springs I put on actually lowered it an inch. It had 3" Calmini springs before. It has a 6" SPOA lift that was on it when I got it. Also running 32" Super Swamper TSL's.

Lifting, lowering, and maybe the traction bar all have potential to change the angles.

Could have been as simple as that. Put grade 8 bolts in and make sure the shoulder, not the threaded part is in the shear area.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll try the bolts first to see if that does it.
