SCUFF recently got word of another abandoned vehicle at Corral Canyon. This time it was Trail 11, Gunslinger. After a day run across Sidewinder, DavidWymore, jbolty, 4x4grey88, Premo, Matt and friends heading out to do a recon and plan a course of action and set up a date to remove the vehicle.
We headed out and not far from the west end of the trail we found it, a blue Ford Bronco II. other than a broken window, flat tire and some vandalism it was in surprisingly good shape. The ignition had been pulled but the steering was good and we were there and ready so we went for it. David hooked the Bronco up to his Dodge and with Matt behind the wheel of the Bronco the caravan headed out and within 10 minutes we were dropping the busted Bronco at Four Corners where it can be dealt with by the Rangers.
Extreme problem, Extreme action. The members of Scuff make every run a trail cleanup, to the extreme.

I think Matt worked the hardest - steering it and huffing diesel smoke while guiding his wife through a flat tire problem on the phone as the bronco bounced along behind the Dodge. ~rockon

It was a challenge guiding the wife through changing a tire, the bronco wasnt bad, other than strong arming the steering while i got thrown around like a dog on a rope. Great time though. ~scooter

A quick update... I talked to Ranger Richard Tull today and he sends his Love, and I do mean Love. He is very impressed with what you guys have accomplished in a very short time. He also wanted me to send his thanks for the trail 11 cleanup last weekend. He found the B2 at four corners and it has been dealt with already. There was some confusion on their end as to which trails were already being adopted. So the latest is we officially have both campgrounds for maintenance, along with Trail 5. If he doesn't get any response from SD4x4 soon we will have Bronco Peak also. They haven't done anything there for a couple of years now, so he wants to try one more time to get a response from them. Now you know everything I know on the subject... Great job Guys!

Trail 5 is pretty well cleaned up. I think between all of us on the run last weekend we filled up at least two of the Cal4WD trash bags (which is still in the back of my Jeep, eww). Trail 5 is a short trail but probably one of, if not the, biggest trash collecting trails.
Problem with that trail is that it is on an immigrant route so there's lots of water bottles, wrappers, clothes and other trash from south of the border there. But, it will be a fun trail to work, steep 4Lo climbs, tall rigs beware, lots of low hanging branches at the beginning of the trail.
I saw a cool tow truck for sale, an M543A2 6x6 wrecker... perfect for the Scuff Recovery Crew ~clown
